The Great Outdoors, Indoors

Fall is that time of the year when wonders happen outside. Why not bring some of that inside. Here are some great pieces that we found to help bring the outdoors in.

We found a couple of “outdoors” inspired pieces at West Elm. First is the ‘Natural Tree-Stump Side Table’. This rustic piece of nature is great as a side table for the living room or a night stand for the bedroom. It is 100% natural and is cut directly from fallen cypress trees. Because of this, no two tables are the same; you are getting your own unique piece of the forest.

The second piece is the ‘Raw Wood Coffee Table’. This coffee table sports four wooden cube legs and a glass top. The wooden legs may not be directly from nature like some of the pieces, but the grain in the wooden cubes looks amazing and would definitely work well with some straight out of the wilderness pieces and accessories. Loungers for Every Sun Lover

I don’t know about everyone, but when we at CH are out in the sun we love to find an amazing chair to plop ourselves in to soak up as much vitamin D as we can. After being inspired by this perfect weekend we wanted to give you a list of a few of our favorite outdoor loungers that we know you will enjoy.

Britannia Lounger: We can’t get enough of the outdoor furniture from Tectona especially their Britannia. This easy to store lounger is a re-edition of the deck chair steamer used on the Transatlantic General Company ocean liners.  This chair is truly vintage, but with the use of a red colored paint and exposed joints this piece can fit into any urban setting.

Indian Lattice Wooden Sun lounger: This great lawn chair found at Andrew Crace is classically made out of wood to be study, strong and last for years outside. The fabulous lattice detail, an adjustable backrest, and movable side tray for a drink, books, or essential accessories this lounger is a great addition to any back yard. Spray paint it with a high sheen lacquer in a bright color and you can give this piece a more modern flair.

Framura by De Padova: We can’t get enough of the Framura
outdoor furniture by De Padova. Found through Architonic this series of hybird furnishings can be used for both outdoor and indoor use. The wheels at the head of the chair make it easy to move the pieces around your pool or deck and the great fabric cushions make for a comfortable place to soak up the rays.

Independent Designers – Etsy picks

Etsy is a favorite resource of ours because it’s where independent designers feature there funky homeware products for recession-friendly prices. We have rounded up our current top five favorites for your viewing pleasure:

Jeanpelle –  At $20 each, this wooden candle holder– a simple piece of cross cut wood– is both architecturally modern and decorative.

Stepanka - These beautiful porcelain cups are $28 apiece, and each is handmade and uniquely designed. A set of four would be the perfect conversation starter at any dinner party.

Avrilloret - For the cocktail-lover and design addict, you can’t go wrong with these napkins. $26 for two sets, that pay homage to skilled and complex chair design. We’ll drink to that.

Bailys Bark -  Doesn’t Bite. At $43, this dish is simple enough to work in any home, but also graphically interesting. So c’mon, accessorize your dinner.

Blue Bell Bazaar - This vintage source has a great eye for one-of-a-kind products. This $37 framed clock-face is an example of seeing the beauty in our everyday tools.  Hang it in your home and give it a glance every time you wish time could stand still.

Christian Liagre

Christian Liagre is one of the foremost contemporary interior designers in the world, whose portfolio includes private homes, hotel interiors and restaurants around the globe. His style is clean and simplistic, without sacrificing absolute luxury. In St. Barths, Christian designed the room interiors of Le Sereno hotel, which we feel are the perfect showcase of his work.

We are in love with his use substantial materials such as walnut and bronze against the clean, linens/white upholstery and wall paint to create the serene look through high-contrast. The simple lines and lack of patterns allow for a spa-like feeling without the need for cool tone blues/greens that we typically seen used as accent colors to create such a specific look. In fact, the only color in these rooms are in the interior of the closets – using his signature color red. Continue Reading
