Made to Order: Pigeon Toe Ceramics

Most great things don’t happen overnight, and some of our favorite finds can’t be mass produced, which is why we love Pigeon Toe Ceramics!  Started in 2009 by the talented artist Lisa Jones, their philosophy is that “your purchase should be an heirloom, not a hassle, memories should be created, not collected, and stories should be handed down, not mass-produced.”  Pigeon Toe Ceramics creates each product they sell, starting at the time an order is placed, and takes about two weeks to produce.

With a range of delicate ceramic products, there is something for everyone.  We love their Mason Jar Pendant Lights and Pleated Pendant Light and can’t get enough of their beautiful set of Scribble Nesting Bowls that have pops of color in each bowl.  Check out their online store and Etsy page to see all the other fabulous things they have to offer and to purchase your own one of a kind piece.

Vintage Finds on Etsy

We’ve found some great things on Etsy to start you off this year that hark back to the past.  Check out Ethanollie’s products, starting with this set of Vintage Set of Bowls by Ethanollie.  They seem as though they are straight from your grandmother’s kitchen. Another collection to check out is the Vintage Shot Glasses.  The Vintage Hotel Silver collection of antiqued silver serving plates and domes also caught our eye.  These items can be collected and lovingly used to add a touch of the cozy, flea market style into your home.  We also loved her Falling for Butterflies , hand colored engravings and Crocheted Lap Blanket.

Rustic Chic New Finds

Here at The Cultivated Home, rusticism and equestrian chic are aesthetics that are never out of style. The most recent finds harking back to that simplistic look, yet embody a unique, new expression are these Magnifying Glass Sconces at our beloved store, Anthropologie. Utterly brilliant, these wall sconces feature an ironwork frame with a magnifying disk hanging in front of a single candle to increase its illumination. It’s so simple, yet so clever!

Another piece that’s caught our eye during our Etsy scavenging are these Constellation Cross-Stitches from MiniatureRhino. These simple, modern designs recall an appreciation of the handcrafted. The white hand-embroidery stitching features star constellations on a blue linen sky. These pieces recall the enchantment of stories the stars tell of ancient myths. Specific star patterns include the Andromeda – the chained lady, Ursa Major – the great bear, Cygnus – the swan, and Orion – the hunter. Custom designs can be requested as well. Hang these as a set on your walls to add a special feeling of handcrafted charm.
