The Cultivated Home

Nina Freudenberger

  • 1980 – Born in Munich, Germany.
  • 1983 – Make Delta flight 774  absolute  misery for all passengers, crying a full 8 hours on the way from Munich to NYC, my new home with my parents.
  • 1985 – Start the long obsession with lego blocks,  sometime trying to eat them but mostly try to build small castles
  • 1986 – Become obsessed with Full House, and insist upon the same sheet set as DJ.Tanner.  Admire my sheets for hours while listening to New Kids on the Block and it all comes together.
  • 1993 – Complain to my parents about their obsession with antique furniture shopping – long for modern furniture.
  • 1996 – Take my first architecture summer course at Pratt Institute. I find my true love there – the profession of architecture.
  • 1997 – Take my second summer class at Rhode Island School of Design and a whole new world of design opens up.
  • 1998 – Finally! The acceptance letter to the department of Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design!  Obsess over all things architecture and have the most incredible five years in Providence. Still crave lobster rolls on a regular basis.
  • 2003 – Graduate from RISD with two degrees, Barch and BFA. Head back  to NYC to accept a job at Kondylis Design, work on high-end interior residential projects. Build relationships with furniture vendors and recognize the importance of sourcing local vendors.
  • 2007 – Open my own boutique design firm called Haus Interior. Realize the need for a NYC based interior design forum online – and voila! The Cultivated Home is born.
