We Love Wallpaper from the 70’s

The 70’s were a time of bright colors, crazy furniture, and wild patterns!  Fortunately for us, a new German-based company called Wall Paper from the 70’s has taken these great patterns and made them into fabulous wallpaper that is chic and desirable today.

We are obsessed with the pattern, Kadmos, which gives the illusion of a foe-tufted wall.  We also can’t get enough of Amphion, Silvanus, and Poseidon. Check out this site today, even just for inspiration, and get your groovy 70’s vibe on!

Environmentally Friendly Tile

With everyone going “Green” and all the talk about being environmentally friendly, why not go for some recycled glass tiles. Stardust Glass is a company based out of Portland, Oregon that does just that. All of their glass tiles are made out of 87-97% recycled glass-content, and they are produced using eco-friendly processes. Not only do they use recycled products, but they also have an array of amazing colored tiles to top it off. With colors like Lava, Cream Soda, and River Rock, what could be better!

Taxidermy Love

Taxidermy Love

You may think that taxidermy is only for creepy movies or old houses, but trust us, the media is definitely misleading when it comes to this bit of art. Whether it is a full on 100% real piece or a cardboard cut-out, you can find some great pieces that will add to your home.

Check out Obscura Antiques; you may find some great pieces thrown in the mix. Antique stores can be great places to find taxidermied pieces—whether you are looking for a bird, mammal, or even some antlers; you just have to find the right one! Also, stop by the Evolution Nature Store, which also has an online store. They may not have as much character as an antique piece, but you may find something that you do like.

If the real deal isn’t for you, no biggie, we have also found some great alternatives. Check out the Cardboard Taxidermy from Urban Outfitters or Cardboard Animal Heads from Uncommon Goods. You’ll find a deer, rhino, buffalo, and moose—all painless to put together and a little easier on the eye. Another great piece is the White Lacquer Deer Head. With this you get a realistic look, without the realistic feel.

Where the Wild Things Are

Where the Wild Things Are

The classic children’s story “Where The Wild Things Are,” is about to hit theaters, but it could come into your home much earlier than the DVD release! We scoped out the Urban Outfitters’ Apartment section and found some amazing ‘wildly’ inspired pieces.

The first two items are exclusive to Urban Outfitters and contain elements taking from the story: the Feathers Pillow and Forest Pillow. The pillows are 18”x18” squares of fun that add magical influence to your room while keeping a chic composure.

We also found some pieces that are not pulled directly from the story, but by looking that them, they might as well be! The Marble Drip Rim Bowl is a great piece that looks like it could come directly from the forest floor. The marble drip gives the bowl a camouflage affect that mimics feathers falling down its side.

There is no need to explain the next piece, the Antler Curtain Tie Back, they are just plain genius! Last is the Birch Tree Wall Mural. With this mural hanging on your wall, you can  sit back, relax, and imagine you’re surrounded by nature. What could be better?!
