Let’s Go Antiquing

Brooklyn Flea Market
----- October 22nd, 2009 -----

Some of the greatest furniture finds are not brand new pieces coming straight out of the box.  The world of antique furniture is vast and holds many wonderful treasures.  Whether you are looking for an iconic piece or something with that “gently loved” feel, there is a lot out there!  It is not always easy to find a great place that sells antique furniture, but here are some of our favorites in the NYC area!

Center 44, Midtown East – Center 44 is a large, almost antique mega store.  They carry pieces dating before the 18th Century, pieces from today, and everything from lighting, to accessories, to all types of furniture.

Golden Calf, Williamsburg – This little store has an amazing eclectic collection ranging from Asian influenced accessories and furniture to classic iconic Eames pieces.  We love this store!

Brownstoner’s Brooklyn Flea Market, Fort Greene – A flea market might not be the most conventional place to shop for furniture, but we promise you that good pieces await you here!

RePop, Clinton Hill – They have a great mix of pieces here.  Also, having a great website to preview the inventory is always helpful!  Another great feature is that they are a 95% recycled store!

1st Dibs.Com – This is the non-stop online shop for antique and vintage pieces. If you can’t find it here, it would be a surprise. The site hosts pieces from all over the world and from every time period, reaching back before the 18th century.  It also has pieces from almost every designer.
