We are always on a search for weekend activities around New York City and some of our favorite museums have great interior design and architecture exhibits going on that we should all check out.

The new and improved Museum of Art and Design or the MAD currently has a great exhibit Totally Rad: Karim Rashid Does Radiators. International known designer Karim Rashid has put together a collection of the most innovative and exciting radiator design. A element of the home which many of us would view as mundane and boring is now display as visually stimulating and a beautiful piece of art. The designs showcased are by Antrax, Caleido, Deltacalor, Gruppo Ragaini, Hellos, Tubes Radiatori, and Runtal.

Once you have ignited your love for modern radiators, head down a few blocks to our beloved MoMA to check of their architecture exhibit called Dreamland: Architectural Experiments since the 1970s. This show is based on Rem Koolhaas’s watercolor plan of Dreamland from 1977, a recent acquisition for the museum and a beautiful piece. The 1970s in the New York was a time of architectural experimentation and development of dream like utopias. This exhibit features drawing of actual building, sketches of ideas, and fantasy’s of thought from import architect like Raimund Abraham, Peter Eisenman, Steven Holl, and Hans Hollein.

Let’s hope for a beautiful weekend and after you have absorbed all of the knowledge at two of New York’s fabulous museums you can stroll around this great city and come face to face to some of the architectural marvels you have just learned about.
