Our New Year’s resolution for 2009 is to be more organized, and we have been searching for a way to do this in the most aesthetically satisfying way possible. If you have 10 minutes to spare, start by creating a simple custom fabric covered pin board on your own to post all of your daily reminders, notes and those never-ending “to do” lists. We did this ourselves on Friday and all of our resources and instructions are after the jump! (then go to web page)
Start by finding a pin board to cover. We love the large linen pin board from Pottery Barn, it can easily be covered with fabric, but is also great on its own.
Next find a piece of fabric to cover the board. We like thinner fabrics, they are easier to pull tight and to secure your push pins longer. Try the great resource Sew Mama Sew, they have fun patterns for every style and are low in cost. Finally, secure the fabric to the board using a staple gun, making sure the fabric is pulled as tightly as possible. Once you have completed the stapling turn the board around and you will be amazed at the new piece of wall art you have created that keeps you organized while beautifying any office or home. Add great silver push pins like the ones from Dick Blick Art Supplies and you will never be chicer.
Any left over fabric? Use it to make matching pillows pulling together the whole room. Craft away!!
