Tie the Knot
Establishment is a fabulous outique in the meatpacking district offering a modern and eclectic mix of hand-crafted furnishings and accessories and decorative arts. The focus is on limited editions. Most of the work is designed by Ungkun the store’s owner, but they also feature the work from artists from his home country of Thailand. There are few places that focus on the work of artists from Thailand, so he has definitely created a niche and a following by designers and the general public alike. This Sunday is a great day to stop by! The store is featuring the work of Karokot Aromdee in a show called Tie the Knot.
His work is phenomenally intricate and uses a skill from his village of kite makers. Cool Hunting has also posted about his work and offers a great explanation of the history and technique. Above is an example of the sculpture that will be shown at Establishment and light fixture called “The Frog Egg Light” that we couldn’t resist showing you. Establishment is located at 30 Gansevoort Street between Hudson and Greenwich in NYC. The show opens May 18 thand goes through June 15 th.
