Parsons The New School for Design recently opened the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center. A beautiful piece of architecture and exciting event in its own right, for now, we’d like to focus on one of three opening exhibits, “Soft Parade: Selections from the New School Art Collection.”

This is an exciting collection of miscellaneous photographs, textiles, sculptures and paintings by big-name artists such as Chuck Close, Lorna Simpson, Joseph Beuys, Sigmar Polke, Kara Walker and Jim Dine.  The show is open until June 20th, but we promise to be back with more on the design center and other exhibitions well before then.  The Sheila C. Johnson Design Center is located at 66 Fifth Avenue, at13th street; 212 229 8919; weekdays10am-9pm, Sat 10am-5pm, Sun 12-6pm.  **PLEASE NOTE: This exhibition will not be on view from April 10th to May 6th.  The center will be hosting the Tribeca Film Festival.
