Russel Wright Pottery

Russel Wright was one of the most influential industrial designers of the 20th century. He believed in casual, simple living. This concept was implemented in all of his designs; from the furniture he marketed as the Easy Living Collection, to his pottery. The place almost guaranteed to have his work in stock is Relic in Beacon, NY. Relic focuses on mid-century modern pieces and the owners are big Wright fans. Apparently, their own cabinets are bursting with his pieces and they use them everyday.

I happen to be the proud owner of the teapot pictured above, (except mine is white, not yellow) and I have to say that I’ve never experienced a pour quite like this. Don’t be jealous fellow tea drinkers, you can have one too; the owners will happily ship your purchase to you. For a wonderful spring daytrip stop by Manitoga, Russel Wright’s home and studio, just north of the Bear Mountain Bridge in Garrison, NY. Then head north to Beacon to visit Relic at 174 Main Street, 845.440.0248
