For those out there that are thinking that it’s time to take the plunge and buy a copy of Photoshop, you need to know that there is now a less expensive option, Photoshop Elements. Unless you do graphics for a living, it is highly unlikely that you need more than Elements. Most of the functions are still available. However, you will have to live without layer masking, pantone colors and possibly the most painful for designers, snapping to gridlines.
The Adobe site emphasizes the photo sharing and retouching for memory addicts, but this version has the power you need for putting together a layered presentation or a page for your portfolio. You can try it free for a month to be sure, but at $99.99 we think this power-packed software is a lot of bang for the buck.
